The world's largest creative festival runs from March 12–18, and opening day is just around the corner.
This year marks the 40th anniversary — a landmark occasion. Additionally, since the usual main venue, Austin Convention Center, is under renovation, official events and satellite programs are spreading throughout the entire downtown area. As a result, hotels, bars, lakeside spots, parks, and special pop-up houses all become part of the SXSW experience — in 2026, the city itself is the venue.

1 South By San José | 3/12–3/14

2 Global Stage at Downright | 3/12–3/18
An internationally flavored live stage where musicians from around the world perform on a rotating daily basis. On the 13th, Japanese artists are scheduled to perform via Tokyo Calling. With performances running late into the night, music lovers won't want to miss this. You can also take in the vibrant Austin nightlife at the same time.
3 Community Concerts at Lady Bird Lake | 3/15
A free outdoor concert held along the shores of Lady Bird Lake, which flows east-west through the heart of downtown. This event lets you experience firsthand how the entire city becomes one giant SXSW stage.

For one day only, the SXSW Expo: International Innovations opens for free — a unique fusion of design × tech × experience design. A free social event held on the central downtown street during SXSW. The area, originally operated as a "Registrant Lounge" — a rest and networking space for official badge holders — is being opened to the general public this year. It's a great spot for gathering information, with company booths and complimentary drinks on offer.
2 New Mexico House | 3/16
An intensive networking hub centered on tech × culture, presented by the official New Mexico promotion "New Mexico TRUE." The venue is The Courtyard ATX — an "Immersive Art + Tech Oasis" where deep tech disciplines like quantum, nuclear fusion, and space intersect with creative industries such as film and art.
